I’ve already mentioned a few fun ways to entertain and grill this summer, but what about throwing a summer party?
As a part of the Walmart Moms, I was challenged to put together a summer party with products found at Walmart. So with the giftcard provided I went to my local store with two ideas in mind: (1) something the kids can splash around in (2) icecream (moms kids love icecream). The first section of the store that I went to was the section that had all of the water sports: slip-n-slides, above ground pools, etc. Browsing I found, the Banzai Wigglin’ Water Sprinkler. I thought this will be PERFECT for a summer party because not only can several kids play in it at once but the price was just right at $9.97!!!!
Once home, the Banzai Wigglin’ Water Sprinkler set-up couldn’t have been easier. Simply twist it onto the end of a hose and turn on the water. The kidlets had a blast playing in this sprinkler. Since the party any bit of sunshine that we see in our rainy summer the kids have been asking if they can go outside and play in this sprinkler. They also love to invite over their friends to join them in the fun.
But don’t forget to protect yourself and the kidlets with sunscreen when splashin’ in the summer sun. The surfer inspired swimwear my boys are wearing is also from Walmart.
But after all of that water fun, the kids are ready for a treat. What is a better treat than icecream to cool down on a hot summer day? Perhaps, create-your-own sundaes! The best part about create-your-own sundaes is that everyone can customize their sundaes to their own personal taste. I was able to find everything we needed to make our own sundaes during my trip to Walmart like bananas ($.55/lb.), sprinkles (rainbowand chocolate - $.82 each), and Hershey’s hot fudge ($1.98).
To make a strawberry topping I also picked up a carton of strawberries at Walmart for $1.98. To make the topping I simply cut up the strawberries into a bowl and sprinkled them with about 2 tablespoons of sugar and then refrigerated them until ready to use. The strawberries and sugar make their own syrup in the bowl which is pretty tasty on sundaes.
Instead of picking out several different kinds of ice cream for our DIY sundaes, I opted to get a large tub of Country Rich Neopolitan ice cream for just $4.97. That way everyone can pick whatever flavors they like to customize. To hold the sundaes these Joy Waffle Bowls ($1.98) were just the right size. What I liked about making create-your-own sundaes with the kidlets was that no two sundaes were the same.
