Birthdays aren’t the only excuse to throw a party. Why not throw a “Back to School” party to get the kid’s excited for their first day!!! As a part of the Walmart Moms, I was given the opportunity to check out some of the Disney Cars themed party supplies from Hallmark that are now available at Walmart. When the box of supplies arrived, I couldn’t wait to dive in and start planning our Back to School party.

I was sent many different types of party supplies and I loved that they all had the Disney Cars theme. One can find anything from themed cups and plates to decorations and even party games! Supplies for a Dream Party from Hallmark are divided up into three different categories: Set the Scene, Create the Adventure, and Remember the Fun. Each of the categories are labeled on the party supplies (in the right hand corner) so it’s easy to find what supplies you need when shopping at Walmart for your “Dream Party”. Let’s take a closer look at the party:

The first step to any successful party is of course inviting guests. We invited over the neighbors to join in celebrating with us. The boys were so excited to hand out the party invitations to their friends. When party day arrives, first on the list of to-do’s before the guests arrive is to decorate! Decorating for a party is always the fun part for me. I love to decorate and I love seeing how an everyday, ordinary space can be transformed with a few simple decorations. Our original plan was to decorate our backyard with all of the themed Cars decorations that we were sent. I set up a “kidlet hang out” area with our outdoor furniture (which we got from Walmart several years ago) and themed our deck with Cars decorations as well. We even put up decorations on the trees and set up several of the party games which I’ll talk about a little bit later in this post. We eventually had to move the party indoors thanks to a stray rain shower that passed by but the kidlets didn’t mind and they got to play some outside once the rain had passed. Some of my favorite decorations were the large cardboard signs that I was able to staple to the trees, the lightyear blimp with flag streamers that adorned our deck space, and the adorable Mater table caddy (I’ll share what we used him for, in the food section of this post). I liked that many of these decorations came in kits. All of the decorations really made the party area feel like a party and the kidlets loved it! While I was setting up all of the decorations I told the kidlets not to peek outside until I was done. When I finally revealed it to them, their little faces were so excited and couldn’t wait for their friends to see.

Once the guests arrived, it was time to party! To start off the party we used the Balloon Drop. The kids loved ripping open the plastic curtain and watching the balloons fall down. Next up, were some games like Red Light, Green Light. Walmart offers other Cars Themed Party Games like: Pin-the-Headlight on Tow Mater. For photo opps there is a Backdrop and Props Kit that comes with a backdrop with Lightning McQueen on it plus several cardboard cutouts that kids can use to customize what they are doing in the photo.

After all of the fun and games, it was time to eat! To make feeding a crowd easy I opted to pick up a couple Marketside pizzas ($6.98) from the Deli section at Walmart with the giftcard provided. We love these pizzas as they are easy to grab and bake at home. Did I mention they are HUGE! They are great for feeding a crowd. Of course, they were served on Cars themed plates with matching napkins. Also, I picked up several 1 gallon jugs of Hawaiian Punch ($2.18) for the kids to drink. Drinks were served in plastic Cars themed cups. I’ve seen these cups at Walmart before and they often come in a variety of different designs and characters. The best part about these cups is that the kids get to take them home with them to remember the party by. Remember the Mater table caddy I mentioned earlier, we used it to hold the lids and straws for our cups. It was so cute! For snacks, I opted for Great Value Cheese Balls ($2.98) since they are a favorite for my boys. I simply put them in a glass bowl and the kids used some of the Cars themed paper cups to fill up on however many they wanted. Instead of doing traditional cupcakes, I opted to do a favorite summer treat, Blue Bunny The Original Bomb Pop ($1.97), for dessert at our Back to School party. Don’t forget the disposable Cars Themed table cover to make clean up super easy.

As the party was coming to a close, it was time to send off our guests with a little something to thank them for coming over and hanging out with us. Inside of the party favor bags were stickers, activity books, a yo-yo that looked like a tire, a race flag, temporary tattoos, a race medal, bubbles, etc. Lots of fun little things kids like to play with. I also included a Car’s themed Thank You card inside each party favor to thank our guests for coming.

Overall, I would say that the party was a HIT! The kidlets couldn’t stop talking about it. “Super, awesome party!” was a popular phrase the kidlets used to describe the party. This post is just an example of how one can create a themed party not just for a birthday but anytime of the year with party supplies available at Walmart. Look for supplies like these and others featuring popular character’s like Disney Princesses to create your own “Dream Party” by Hallmark in the party section at participating Walmart stores.

What was the theme for your last party?
