On a rainy night, I love nothing more than lighting a favorite scented candle, applying a facial mask, and enjoying a warm bubble bath with a good book. A relaxing spa-like day at home is the perfect time to tackle my ever growing list of books that I hope to one day read.
As a Walmart Mom, I was given the opportunity to read a new release by Debbie Macomber. Debbie Macomber is a new author for me as I have not read any of her books before. But some of you may already be familar with Blossom Street. Debbie’s newest book is called “Blossom Street Brides”. This story follows the lives of three women at different points in their lives who all have one thing in common, knitting. But their lives are much more than just an occassional trip to their favorite yarn shop. Each woman has a different story of love and family.
Lauren Elliot has waited. She has waited quite a while for her long-term boyfriend Todd, a busy local television newscaster, to propose to her. When she finds out that her little sister is now pregnant, this forces Lauren to rethink her current relationship situation. Should she stick it out in hopes that Todd will eventaully pop the question after he gets his act together or does she break it off in hopes of finding someone better qualified from her husband list?
Why are there baskets of yarn being found around town? Who placed them there and for what purpose? That is what Lydia Goetz, owner of the yarn shop: A Good Yarn, wants and needs to find out. Lydia struggles to find the balance between taking care of an ailing mother, connecting with her adopted daughter, and running a business that has all of a sudden gotten a lot busier.
Bethanne Scranton is newly married to her second husband. Her children from her previous marriage and ex-husband have some accepting to do as Bethanne gets another chance at being happy in love. But she has some hard decisions to make along the way as long distance relationships are never easy. Will she uproot her business and move to California to be with her new husband? Or stay in Seattle with her family and friends?
I love quick read books that hold my attention and keep me wanting more. With each turn of the page I wanted to know more of what will happen next in the lives of these three women. I could not put this book down. I loved the glimpse into each woman’s life. The characters seemed real, like they could be your best friend. Even though this is my first book from the Blossom Street Novels, I didn’t feel lost one bit reading it. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and will definitely add Debbie Macomber’s other books to my list of authors to read more of. I’d recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the chase of romance and the power of a mother’s love. As a wife and mother, I enjoyed reading the story of these three women and the glimpse inside how they handled the various situations that life threw their way.
